Race #2 of the Moonrise Summer MTB Series
Gravity Grinder- July 29- Ute Valley Park– 8 mile course (3 loops)
Junior Solo: 4:00pm
Adult Solo*: 4:30-6:30pm
Adult Duo: 5pm
*We are going to try a window start for this event. Adult solo riders can start any time between 4:30-6:30pm. You must check-in at Registration at Pinon Valley Park before starting the course. Timing starts/ends at the top of the hill when you enter Ute Valley Park. Riders must ride down to Pinon Valley Park after they finish and checkout at registration before departing the event.
Please start to give yourself enough time to finish before dark.
Junior riders and duo teams must start at their designated start time. No exceptions.

Packet Pickup:
Packet pickups will be held at Trails End Taproom on Wednesday nights during Trailblazers. If you can’t make it, packet pickup will be available on-site at the race location on Friday afternoon.

Categories
Awards will only be given to four categories: Adult & Junior Solo and Adult & Junior Duos. However, riders will be asked to self-select a skill level category at registration so that we can appropriately assign wave starts should participation permit. As the race series grow, we hope to expand awards to additional categories.

Scoring Criteria for Series Winners:
We will take the top 10 male and female finishers in each race to name our top winners. Point Breakdown First=100pts. Second=90pts. Third=80pts. Fourth=70pts. Fifth=60pts. Sixth=50pts. Seventh=40pts. Eighth=30pts Ninth=20pts. Tenth=10pts. The series point standings are for solo riders only…no relay teams are eligible. A racer’s series score will be determined by adding their combined scores from individual races. You must race and finish all 3 Moonrise Series races. The Race Director has sole discretion when valuing points standings. In the case of a tie, the tie breaker will be determined by the racers total number of 1st place finishes, then 2nd place, then 3rd and onward if necessary. All scores are final after the race director reviews the scores and final race outcome is determined. The RD has 24 hours from the finish of the final race to make final determinations of series standings.
All riders who complete all three races in the series will receive a custom finisher award to commemorate your achievement!
Race Swag
Each race in the series will provide a different swag item to participants! Items may include race shirt, socks, neck gaiter, water bottle, bike tool, etc. Register by June 27 for race swag!

Course
The second race will be held at Ute Valley Park and will start at Pinon Valley Park. The course is ~8 miles and consists of three loops with ~1000′ of climbing.
Duo relay teams will ride three loops per teammate for a total of 16 miles.

Medical
We will have EMTs based at the start/finish headquarters. This team is here to assist with basic and advanced first aid right on site. We reserve the right to pull you from the race if medical officials deem it necessary. Please understand that these decisions are made for your safety. Continuing on in a state where you cannot safely navigate is a recipe for disaster and we are here to prevent that.
Should something happen while you are out on the course, we will provide a phone number to call for immediate assistance.
FAQ
What if I sign up but can’t make a race? Will I get a refund?
No, refunds will not be issued if you are unable to make a race.
In case of withdrawal, a 75% credit towards a future Aravaipa Rides event will be provided if notified in writing to info@aravaiparides.com 30 days or more out from the event. At the race director’s discretion, within 30 days up to 72 hours of the event, a 50% credit may be provided in case of injury (with doctor’s note) or family emergency (with appropriate documentation). No credits will be provided for relay team withdrawal. Credits will be good for one year from date of issuance. No refunds, transfers, or rollovers will be issued under any circumstance. No credit will be issued within 72 hours of the event or after the event. Race goodies may only be picked up in person at packet pickup or on race day, we cannot mail out shirts to participants that do not attend the event.
Can I transfer my race registration?
No, you may NOT transfer your race registration.
