100 Mile Solo Event Details

The Tonto Mountain Rides course combines the best of Usery Mountain Regional Park and the Hawes Trail System. For those in the 100 & 50 mile races most of your ride is on rolling trail, however please be prepared for some tough technical sections in the Hawes Trail System. We recommend those distances only for intermediate & advanced riders. This 50 mile loop will be ridden twice by the 100 mile solo racers.

All riders will start/finish at the Trailhead Staging Area within Usery Mountain Regional Park. The distance you choose to tackle will determine just how far you wander outside of the park and into the rugged arms of the Tonto National Forest.

All riders will start/finish at the Trailhead Staging Area within Usery Mountain Regional Park. The 20 mile racers will complete two loops of this course.

You will encounter a mix of wider rolling desert terrain, sandy wash sections, as well as rugged and rocky single track.

Additional Race Info

The race courses will be well marked with orange plastic ribbons with black polka dots and reflective medallions. Trail junctions and turns will be well marked with reflective laminated signs. In addition, blue & white checkerboard plastic flagging and RED reflective WRONG WAY signs will be hung to designate non-race or “WRONG WAY” trails. All riders are responsible for understanding the layout of the course. Please familiarize yourself with the course maps on our website prior to race day and/or print a map to bring along with you.

We will have our MedStar Solutions medical staff based at the start / finish headquarters to assist with first aid onsite. We reserve the right to pull you from the race if medical officials deem it necessary.
NOTE: Please do NOT call 911 in a medical emergency. Our medical team is highly trained and understands the terrain and driving access points. Please call the race day number and they will dispatch immediately.

Parking
Remember the park now charges a $10 park entry fee per vehicle.
Please arrive early and have correct change (cash) available on race evening for a smooth entry process. Maricopa County Parks also offers an Annual Pass for $120. Carpool to save!

Pets
For the safety of all runners, no pets are allowed on-course at the night runs. Any pets at the race must be on a leash at all times, respect park rules, and be supervised.

Camping
Camping is allowed by Usery Mountain Regional Park for this event in their designated campgrounds. All sites in the campground may be reserved online at go here.

Mountain Biking and Trash
Please respect the trails and the beauty of the desert by disposing of any trash at one of our aid stations. We do recycle and participate in the Terracycle program where we recycle used nutrition packets and gel wrappers. Please deposit them in the specified container at the feed station.
